Summer on the Great Lakes

I wanted to capture the way the light reflects through the water - all of those different tones and hues mixing. Blue but also gray with hints of pinks and yellows and oranges peeking out.

The key to getting this to work was in lots of layers of color. First the skeins are dyed a mix of sunset colors. Summery peaches and blush. From there I build up layers of blues capturing the reflecting light over the water.

I absolutely love how it came together!
