Inspired by Dolly Parton's heartfelt lyric, this colorway is a love letter to the wild roses that dot the Appalachian hillsides, standing strong in the mountain air, just like the stories woven into country songs.
First this is dyed a soft, dusty purple/pink - like the petals of a wild rose. From there speckles of deep mulberry and crimson are added - echoing the rich mountain blossoms. Then I apply speckles of mossy and sage greens - sun-dappled leaves and the rugged beauty of the Tennessee hills. Finally, I add a layer of twilight blue - like shadows cast over wildflower fields as the sun sets beyond the ridgeline.
I let the speckles bleed a bit in the dyepots creating a watercolor effect that will work up beautifully in either knit or crochet!
