Inspired by the saltwater marshes and coastal lagoons of Maryland - wetlands that are flooded and drained by salt water brought in by the tides. These habitats are a critical ecosystem for fish, crabs, migratory birds and other organisms. I was especially inspired by the marshes along the Chesapeake Bay and at Assateague Island.
